Hey guys!!!
It is FREEZING here!!!! Well for Florida it is freezing at least! I have had at least 3 layers on every day this week! AH!

My week this week began with a test at 8:00 am Monday consisting of a project, a physics test, a physics lab final, a weather test, a math test, and me trying very hard not to go insane!!! This week is also the first week flight team picks back up since Regionals, so that will be fun!!! I am excited to get back on top of things. If you all have read anything about our flight team published by people at the school, it is to their knowledge apparently that nationals are in San Jose in May, well they aren’t. They are actually in Saint Louis.

I don’t remember if I have mentioned it but there are some roommate problems within our suite… so one of the girls is moving out. Actually to my knowledge she was supposed to leave already but she’s not gone yet… I am not sure what the hold up is to tell you the truth. We thought everything would be fine and dandy after our first little meeting with the RA and RD but…. NOPE! It’s almost impossible not to have trouble with 8 girls in one room. A little life update as well… 6 of the 8 of us came here with boyfriends from home.. now 5 of the 8 of us have new boyfriends haha– and one of us is in the works of having a new one. My how things can change.

As stressful as things have gotten with classes and tests and all, I am still trying my hardest and won’t trade Riddle in for any other school. It’s amazing still!!!! Ohh yeah and the shuttle launch = AWESOME! Even though I have seen them before because I am from Florida.. they are still amazing every time you see them! Have a GREAT Thanksgiving!!! and I will be back in touch with you all after the break… when I have a major report due šŸ™ AHHH

Hey guys!
The past week has been super crazy for me! We had Flight Team Regional Competition which we hosted at the Daytona Beach International Airport. We had runway 25L and 7R closed for us until 11:00am every day last week. We also came away with the 21st consecutive regional championship for the Eagles Flight Team!!!! I participate in message drop..which is mostly for fun… however I did end up taking second place with my pilot Tim. It’s a lot of fun.

Except I missed a whole week of class so I am trying to get caught up on all of that now. I have to go to physics here soon and get crucified by all the work I missed. Most of my teachers we cooperative, but there’s always that one..which happened to be my MA111 professor, she just won’t budge. She doesn’t give partial credit on tests at all…and they are not multiple choice, she doesn’t give extra credit, doesn’t take late work.. AHH if you can avoid having Cambell as a professor.. DO IT!

I also went to the JAX airshow two weeks ago.. It was AWESOME!!! I have never seen the Blue Angels before and they rocked! My roommates and I had so much fun. I got to get really close to the planes too! I was really hoping that the Delta 757 that is painted for breast cancer awareness was going to be there… but it wasn’t. I was upset about that, but there was so much stuff to see it was still fun! My computer is still not working so I don’t have my pictures to show you, but they are all up on facebook from others..check it out. I stole 2 to put up here for you guys. One is my message drop Pilot Tim and I, and the other is all of the Message droppers. It was a fun week for sure šŸ™‚ Well now I am off to physics, I need a vacation!!!! later taters!

Hey guys!
It’s Friday again THANK GOODNESS! I have been so busy this week. I have a physics test to take today at 11:45. I have been studying like crazy for it! I voted in my first ever presidential election yesterday… I am mailing it out today! (see photo) The state of Florida, of course, has to have huge envelopes that cost a whole dollar to mail you can’t just use a normal stamp! Also, there are soo many things I had to vote for, I actually sealed the envelope without putting the second page of the ballot in. I had to open it as soon as I realized it, I hope they still take it.

I know I told you all that I was trying out for the flight team and I found out that day that I made the team which was exciting! Actually one of the guys on the team said their Dad read one of my journals so hello to Spencer’s father if you are reading this one! Registration is coming up soon for next semester so I have meet with my advisor once about classes and I have to meet him again next week….picking classes doesn’t get any easier either. However, my advisor just so happens to be my weather professor (McNally). I am definitely taking his WX301 next semester and I’d recommend him to everyone, he’s a great teacher and very funny. Other than that class I am at a loss for now. I am going to get my private pilot at home this summer then when I come back in the fall I will start doing my instrument rating I guess. I have been trying to keep up with the MLB playoffs and I realllllllyyy hope that the Rays make it. Just because I HATE the Red Sox. I would have rather seen the Yankees make the playoffs but that was a lost cause about half way through the season. On a brighter note the Ohio State vs. Michigan game is this Saturday and that always makes for a good game! I am going to add some pictures from last time that I couldn’t get up because of my computer.. which is still not working =[

Have a good week…. and goodbye for now!

Hey guys!
There is bad news and good news. My computer crashed so there won’t be any pictures until I can get it fixed because my other computer doesn’t have a place for the camera’s memory card. Good news is I might be able to find a way to get them to you by using another computer. So if there are pictures, I got lucky!

Anyways… I went on my first flight the other night in the Piper Seminole.. it was AMAZING! The weather was absolutely perfect and I went with my friend Sherman (who is in the pictures when I can get them up). He is working on his multi-commercial right now and we went on a cross country to St. Pete airport and back. I got to wear a headset and listen to the tower and everything. It was awesome! The past week has been a little crazy. I have had a test in almost every class. I am very happy that tomorrow is Friday!

On the other hand, I have been trying out for the flight team the past few weeks and I find out tomorrow in my mail box if I made the team or not. I am really scared… I might not even go get my mail tomorrow I am so nervous! I really want to make the team, but we will see. One of my room mates got asked by one of our friends to go to the Navy ball with him this month so we are going to go pick out a dress for her sometime soon. That should be fun!!! I can’t believe how fast this semester is going by though, it is already October! I can’t wait for Thanksgiving, I need some good home-cooked food!!! I am supposed to be doing a heart walk tomorrow night with the Catholic Student Union but I think it might be hard because I wore high heels to my interview for the flight team yesterday and I got 4 blisters. Yes FOUR from walking from my room to the COA (College of Aviation). That is it for now… find me on facebook if you have questions look under Elizabeth Marie. I will try to get those pictures in as well… If not I will put them up next time!!! Have a good safe week guys!

Hey guys!

Itā€™s Sunday night, I spent the weekend with my family at my grandparents for my grandfatherā€™s birthday!!! I had so much fun, I missed them all so much and my family means the world to me. My baby cousin who is sooooo cute was there, his name is Mario and he is a year and a half old. I couldnā€™t get a good picture of him or I would put on up for you guys. Anyways, back to class tomorrow. My day starts at 8 a.m. so I will be trying to go to bed early.

For all of you considering aeronautical science as a major, I was supposed to go up on an observation flight with one of my roommates on Thursday but it got cancelled because her instructor was sick so it is being push to 2 weeks from now. I will let you know how it goes as soon as I get to go and will definitely have pictures up. I had a weather test this past Friday and let me tell you, weather is not as easy as I thought. I studied for hours with my roommate and we both did pretty badly. So, if you guys have to take weather classes like most of us here do, make sure you read the book and study hard!!!! There are so many “maybes” it threw me off, I am really hoping my professor made a mistake when he put my grade in though or something because I studied so hard and was so ready!!! I checked all my answers two times and still finished the test a half hour early!

OH, back to my trip home, I got to see my puppy!! I was so excited heā€™s so cute! I have a picture of him for you to see his name is Toto and he is a Yorkie-schnauzer mix. He jumped all over me the second I walked into the door, it was cute. I have a ton of work to do this week, I hope it dies down by the weekend so I can finally get some rest but for now this is all I can write. I will try to get pictures up of the observation flight and write about it as soon as it happens. Besides going study crazy nothing interesting has happened lately. So thatā€™s it for now!!!

Hey all! It is great to have you interested in Embry-Riddle! It is an awesome school and I love it! My name is Elizabeth, Iā€™m a meteorology major and I transferred to ERAU as a sophomore this fall. I was born and raised in Florida, so I am used to the state. I will give you all a fair warning, it is HOT! I love it though; I am from Cape Coral which is about 4 hours south-west of Daytona. I have a 12-year-old sister at home and a little yorkie named Toto! I miss home a little; I definitely miss my parents and my dog a lot, but I am getting used to it. Embry-Riddle has been great so far and I know there are a lot more things to come. I am living on campus, in Oā€™Connor hall which in the student village. My room has 8 girls total so as you can imagine it gets a little hectic at times, but for the most part we all get along and it is a ton of fun! With the way the room is set up we have a living room/kitchen area, 4 rooms (each with 2 girls), 2 bathrooms, and 4 sinks. There is a picture of my room, the living room, and our sink area for you to see. Of the 8 of us, 5 girls are Aeronautical Science majors (flight), which I have been seriously considering, it seems like so much fun! We will see where that goes though. One of the girls is from Paris! Sheā€™s really funny and has great fashion sense!!! Now about my classesā€¦ I tried not to pile the classes on so hard this semester because itā€™s a new school with new professors and everything so I am taking 5 classes, PS-103 which is physics, PS-103L- physics lab, MA-111-Pre-calc, WX-201- Intro to Weather, and COM-221- Technical report writing. My physics class is crazy! It isnā€™t that hard, itā€™s just that my professor goes on rants and gets off subject very fast, but there is always someone around to help me if I donā€™t understand something. THANK GOODNESS! Otherwise I donā€™t know what I would do. The rest of the classes are going pretty well though. It is Saturday and sadly I am loaded with homework and Ohio State is playing so I need to balance my afternoon well J I am also a Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees Fan. I know, I am very scattered but thatā€™s just how it is!

There is a lot to do on campus also because you donā€™t just study all the time. This past week has been fraternity rush week and my resident advisor (RA) is the V.P. of a fraternity, so we got to play volleyball and hang out at some of the barbeques with the guys next door. There was a Monte Carlo night some organizations put on last weekend and they gave away free stuff, had food, and had casino tables, so that was fun too. As girls on campus, we all got really lucky because we live next to a group of really nice guys, they are so sweet and treat us the complete opposite of how we all thought that we would be treated going to school at a mostly male school. Oh, and about that, being a girl on campus isnā€™t that bad here, although we are out numbered by like 7:1 or something like that it has its advantages. Guys open doors for you, your professors will learn your name faster, and although you do get the occasional typical college boy that is very excited to see a girl, they donā€™t mess with you if you stand your ground. Just in case you all were wondering, I do have a boyfriend, his name is Joe and he is an Aerospace Engineering major. Crazy if you ask me, it is a lot of work but he loves it! We have been dating since my sophomore year of high school. He is a sophomore here and no, I didnā€™t come here because of him, ironically we both love the school. I should probably start the tons of work I have to do so thank you all for reading and if you have any question about the school or dorm life, or anything! Just e-mail me at hunte@erau.edu. So goodbye for now, I look forward to writing more and hopefully hearing from some of you!
